How do I know if a Cartier watch is a fake?

My friend has been offered a Cartier watch, with diamonds, at a very low price. One like it on EBAY sells for over $4,000. Is there any way of knowing if the watch he has been offered is a fake.

|||Take it to the real Cartier jeweler on Rodeo. Good luck.|||usually if its cheap and i mean cheap thats a hint its not real. but if you maybe think you really ran into a good deal, check the back . If it says cartier in the same scribe it has on their website, i guess you could check thats a good bet. Also fake watches that are replicating a real usually dont look the exact same as the real one, they just use that watch as a mold. so look on ebay or the cartier site to inspect the real version of the watch. if its the exact same..good chance its real aswell. You could also pay the guy lets say 25 bucks to get a statment from a jeweller saying its real|||No one offers that which is expensive for 'a good price' unless it was arrived at at no cost......as in fake or stolen.
