Anyone could tell me how to identify a fake Cartier watch?

A friend got one with the romans numbers on gold and I never seen one like that before, so I would like to know how you can tell if it's real or not|||if you look on the 12 place on your watch with a magnifying glass, you should see a tiny "cartier" engraved into it if its real. if its not there, then you have a fake.
