Who is George-Etienne Cartier and what did he do for Canadian government?

who is George-Etienne Cartier and what did he do for Canadian government?|||Let me guess - you have to answer this for history/political science in school, right? :-)





He was one of the Fathers of Confederation. His main feat was to stabilize the Quebec government and helped lead them into Confederation. More info can be found under the link below.





As a side note, he is also immortalised in the Macdonald-Cartier Freeway (also known as the 401) which, if you've from Ontario, you've driven on about a zillion times.
