Why did Jacques Cartier take the chiefs two sons to France?

10 points to first well explained answer.|||He told their father that he wanted to prove that the new world existed, but he also told him that the cross he erected and had inscribed with Long live the king of France was only a marker so he could find his way back, because the chief had guessed that he was claiming the land. I think that his answer was partially true, but he probably wanted to use them as interpreters when he returned and wanted to find out more from them about the land he had found, specifically about where gold and a passage to the Pacific Ocean might be found. A couple of guides would come in handy for further exploration.

Just a thought but I have noticed that when an asker mentions 10 points they normally don't pick a best answer. It doesn't matter, because you get nothing from points, but I thought I'd make the observation, anyway.|||Easy,to learn French so communication would be easier with the tribes.MUST have worked cause he used the two indian interpreter guides to pilot him up the St. Lawrence River to Stadacona(the site of modern day Quebec. Many natives in that area spoke French as well as their native tongue.Hope that helps.
