What province did George Etienne Cartier represent in the confederation of Canada?

During the confederation meetings of Canada, what province or state did George Etienne Cartier represent?


Thanks!|||As I understand he represented the Province of Canada (before confederation, it was the only actual province).


He did become a member of the governing party after confederation, with Montreal East and then Manitoba before he died.
