I have a high-end Cartier Tank American watch which I want to sell, but I do not know where to go to get the best value. Should I pawn it, ebay/craigslist, or are there other options?|||yes you can try http://www.posh-swaps.com, a place to swap, buy and sell second hand clothes and accessories. It is free to use so you keep all the money|||Check in your area to see if there is a jeweler who specializes in high-end pieces. Some of them work like a consignment shop, others will buy the piece from you straight out. You could even call or visit your nearest Cartier and ask their advice. They may have someone in-house who deals with this.
If you pawn it, you'll wind up getting less than a quarter of the value. On eBay, if you list it low, you could wind up practically giving the watch away or if you list it with a higher starting bid or a reserve price, it might not sell at all and you still have to pay listing fees on it.
Forget Craigs List...any crackpot looking to get something for nothing or looking to rip you off will be contacting you.|||As a seller, the most important thing you want to consider is the size of your potential market. A basic business tenet is 鈥楾he greater the potential market, the greater the potential to maximum profits.鈥?
There isn鈥檛 another auction site on the web that can hold a candle to ebay and the close to 200 million of members it has. Many have tried and many have failed and yet, many are still trying. Ebay has a virtual lock on this business. This is where you want to sell as ebay has the largest potential market. Yes, there are fees but you would not have access to this huge market had it not been for eBay. Reaching this market is part of what your fees are for. In short, there will ALWAYS be a cost of doing business, whether it be money or time or both.
While free, Craigslist is basically a classified that limits you to your general geographic area. This, in turn, drastically limits your potential market. If you want to reach the most people to maximize your profits, ebay is still the way to go. Craigslist, for the most part, is for larger and/or heavier items that are heavy and/or cumbersome to easily ship cheaply like furniture, weights/dumbbell sets, cars, swing sets, etc. Also, CASH is king with Craigslist. Do tell the buyers beforehand that you will accept ONLY CASH.
Also, it鈥檚 a crazy world! As most Craigslist buyers will arrive at your home to pick up their merchandise, I would advise people, especially women, who use Craigslist to have at least two other people with them when the buyer arrives. You just never know what kind of riff raff may show up at your doorstep. The person who arrives may be a heavy drooler and look like Quasimodo. You don鈥檛 want to be terrified alone, do you? You want to be terrified with at least two other people. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
GOOD LUCK!|||Hi,
I would suggest you list it on eBay and Craiglist. These would be the best places as the market is huge and you will have lots of potential customers there. Also try iOffer but the number of people that visit that site is much less.|||EBAY!!!
the best place. but i would put it on craigslist too.
just for the best options and you get different offers %26amp; more people.
my advice.. do both. :)
